Lot of so called New Age beliefs are older than Christianity. Christianity at one time was New Age. Paul and other authors cobbled together belief systems with sacrificed gods and resurrection myths sprinkled in some Greek mythology here and there and let the pot simmer for a few hundred years until the Catholic Church picked out what it thought Jesus said and threw the rest of the religious texts away or labeled them as heresy and false texts. It wasn't always enough to just ignore the existence of contradictory stories about Jesus and other prophets they set about to destroy other works ...
