I was raised by my grandparents in southern Florida, where I received a Catholic education. That meant little to me at the time, but now I fully appreciate the sacrifices my parents made to ensure a solid future for me.
I earned a BA in English and a minor in Secondary Education from the University of Florida. Before moving to Chicago to marry the love of my life, I taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts in Orlando for two years.
Currently, I teach in Chicago and reside in a nearby suburb with my husband. When I'm not teaching or writing, I spend my time reading, taking road trips, visiting breweries and wineries, wining and dining in the city, bowling, singing karaoke, and volunteering with organizations like the March of Dimes.
