: About Me

I am a sister to twelve, aunt to nine, friend to many, girlfriend to one amazing man, and a writer for anyone who cares. I was born in Mexico in a place where the norm was outhouses, oil lamps, horse and buggies, and water pumps somewhere on the property. Of course, I was raised among a Mennonite community, by a Mennonite pastor and his family.

I was seven years old when I moved to Canada and was reunited to my birth family. I learned a new language and adapted to a new culture. As soon as I could read, I wanted to write. I spent hours upon hours upon various occasions making up stories and playing make-belief with my sisters. Sometimes at home and other times at my Aunt Elizabeth's. Those hours of imagination never made in onto paper, but hopefuly, the memories will remain.

The direction of my life may be unclear to me, but I have my dreams and visions. Sharing my poetry and stories with you is just a small part of that.

The old swinging tire hangs Abandoned through the seasons From a tall tree my brother used to climb When we were young. The leaves fall swirling Like snowflakes to the ground While the wind pushes the tire And phantom children laugh. Dust collects inside While snow piles up on top And the old tire remembers Chubby legs clinging to its rubber. Sunshine caresses silver webs As butterflies kiss the dew of dawn And the tire shivers in envy at the toboggan Sliding down a distant hill.
