In the past, salt, silver and then gold encouraged wars, genocide and invasions by super powers. Hundreds of years from now scholars of history will study us drunk with the power of oil and willing to invade and occupy nations to have our fill. The price and demand of oil controls the prosperity of every citizen whether it is the tragedies in Darfur or the war in Iraq. Alternative fuel threatens the barons and the powerful which is why we are stalled in our ability to move forward.
