My writing - mostly articles and editorials - has been published on Helium.com, About.com, and Names.com. I research and write on many topics, including but not limited to music, writing, driving, communication, society, and the federal government. I am constantly increasing my basic and specialized knowledge, as I take many classes focused on various aspects of writing, editing, and publishing.
Currently, I am expanding my freelance copywriting/editing company called Elite Writing Enterprises, where I help clients choose the best words for their text-intensive projects. In this capacity, I have written or edited newsletters, press releases, web content, articles, opinion pieces, event announcements, resumes, and local radio ads.
I satisfy my creative writing urges by working on a choose-your-own-adventure novel, and occasionally a short story.
In my day job, I help update air maps for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) via database maintenance. Personally, I play trumpet and percussion with a handful of local groups, as well as compose, arrange, and conduct. I have an eclectic collection of DVDs, CDs, and yes, even those old fashioned "cassettes." I love to travel, having seen various points in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, with still more on my list.
I strongly believe in the universal language of music, having or creating options, never forgetting humility, and supporting animal rights. I also believe that honest, timely, and tactful communication is vital.
My passion is ...
music performance. All styles. My second passion is writing. All styles.
I know too much about ...
working for the federal government.
My parents always told me ...
that I could be anything I wanted.
My childhood ambition ...
was to be a railroad engineer. That is, until I finally met one and he told me how boring it was. Bring a book!
My favorite memory ...
I don't remember.
Why I write ...
1) I can help others, 2) It's therapeutic, 3) I'm trying to earn a living at it.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Reading: The Well-Fed Self Publisher (Peter Bowerman), 45 Master Characters (Victoria Lynn Schmidt), and any given edition of Time Magazine. Watching: No TV for me, but plenty of old and new movies. Listening to: Almost all styles. Too many artists to name.
My first job ...
was being a babysitting chauffeur. Egad.
My best moment ...
is any time there is sincere applause after I perform, either with a group or alone. This is not meant to be egotistical, but merely a nod to those who can show their appreciation for live music.
My inspiration ...
is anyone who does not settle for mediocrity.
