: About Me

Catherine is a freelance writer, editor and consultant living in the Northern Virginia area on the edge of the historic Shenandoah Valley. She is the mother of five wonderful children, and the grandmother of one very special granddaughter.

Catherine is married and lives with two large and friendly dogs, several cats who have full control of the house, and two parrots who make sure that it is always a jungle - in more ways than one.

Interests include writing and editing, gemstones and handcrafted artisan jewelry design, graphic design and layout, desktop publishing, French Hand Sewing, beading and sequining fabric and lace applications, silk ribbon embroidery, exotic parrots, and all types and colors of roses.

Goals include a collection of stories for young children, a sugar-free cookbook, a personal memoir, and the hope that someone will find her writing "good enough" to impress her most intense critics.

Catherine is passionate about the environment, good writing and grammar, promotion of English as the official language of the United States, energy efficiency, conservation, advocacy for the handicapped and learning disabled, advocacy for Veteran's rights, and a heartfelt regard for the animals of this planet.

Her life is filled with memories of special people who have touched her heart, and she hopes to find them and hug their neck for a long time.

Passion can change, and shouldn't be molded into a box or format. Life is unpredictable, at best.

My childhood ambition ...

To fly like an eagle, save the sick and dying, and to bring home every stray animal within reach.

My favorite memory ...

The birth of my five children; the day I realized there really was a God in heaven who loved me and knew how many hairs were found upon my head, and a kiss from long ago...

Why I write ...

Writing is my very closest friend - unapologetic, sympathetic, attentive and adaptable. Endorphins are a necessary part of my life, and I prefer to find them without the aid of chemicals.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

Mitch Albom, Daniel Pinkwater, "House", The History Channel, Dioscovery,Celtic instrumental and new age music giver me the chance to think about things which are important.

My first job ...

Working in a pet store for $1 an hour, and caring for the little Capuchin monkey who became my best friend

My best moment ...

Is found in the little things; when I feel satisfied with my own creative efforts...and remembering the day you told me you loved me and the flutters of a passionate kiss.

My inspiration ...

Comes from heaven, God and the angels, and from the experience of a painful life. I wish I had something more creative to share, but if you haven't been in the mud and clueless about how you would get out of the pain, then you may not be ready to write. Maybe someday I will see you again...for you know who you are, and I need not say anything else...
