It is war in its most detestable form. It is the closest thing to Hell that we can possibly imagine. Some experienced it in Vietnam. They haven't forgotten it. Some are experiencing it now in Iraq. They won't forget it, either.

It is guerrilla warfare[see footnote 1]. Where a man can live the life of a civilian for a week, month, or even year. But then will, at one time will pick up his weapon, find a vulnerability in his enemy's position, and capitalize on it.
