I have been a qualified journalist for more than 20 years, starting my career on newspapers and radio. During that time I have worked as a reporter, news editor, sub-editor, chief sub-editor and deputy editor. I recently decided it was time to take the bull by the horns and try my hand as a freelance journalist. I now write on a huge range of subjects and am slowly but surely getting my name known. I love writing and think it is a huge privilege to earn a living (well, I'm getting there!) from something I so enjoy doing. I still work as a freelance sub-editor and proof-reader for my last place of work.

IT can be a scary world out there, but even more so if your start in life has been marked by cruelty, neglect or indifference.
