I live in Gravesend, Kent with my wife Christine and Mabel the cat. I am semi-retired and contribute articles to various newspapers and magazines.

I served for many years with the British Royal Navy and in 1998 undertook a College diploma course in journalism.

My spare time is spent drinking and writing, and when I'm not involved in those two favourite 'occupations' of mine I can be found on the island of Malta, my second home, which I visit several times a year.

Of course it doesn't - it never has. Irrespective of your religious belief, there has never been a clarion call to arms coming from either the Christian Bible, the Koran or whatever fairy story you've grown up believing. To deliberately scatter body parts of innocent people you have never met, for an objective which you have never never made clear, has nothing to do with religion. It's called murder.
