I write under the name "Renee K. Cox." Renee is my actual middle name and Cox is part of my legal name. I am 60 years old. My mother was a writer, and I have always enjoyed writing for speaking engagements or publication. I have life experience in many areas: Health challenges, schooling, child rearing, child development, teaching, parenting, child care, learning disabilities, indirect experience with the military through my husband and son. I was born in Ohio, but have lived in Arizona since the age of 26 with the exception of three years in Southern California. Recently, I attended a funeral service. It was for the nephew of a long-time close friend whose young relative had died in a private plane crash along with his best friend. Although my friend is in his seventies now, I still could not believe how weak and emaciated he looked since the last time I'd seen him three years ago at my daughter's wedding.
