Even as a little kid growing up in the '60s, all I wanted to be was a writer. Nearly every job I've held in my professional life has had writing at its core - reporter, editor, video producer, teacher.
Currently, I teach an Advanced News Writing class at the local university and am the Communications Officer for the Information Technology Services division of the same university.
My Master's is in communications, just like my undergrad degree - I'm a liberal arts guy at heart.
I spent a little time working for newspapers and a lot of time as a writer/editor for magazines (B2B). For a few years, I worked for a NASA contractor as an editor, video writer/producer.
Since the early 1980s (even while fully employed), I freelanced for businesses, newspapers, magazines, and NASA.
Since joining the university six years ago, I have done almost no writing beyond the press release, tech manual, newsletter and rudimentary web content level. A sad and atrophying state that makes me eager to get back to more "meaningful" writing.
Flipping, tossing Flowing back and forth One thing at a time, Many all at once Changing, shifting, Indifferent and aloof Holding, caring, Tied tightly ‘cross the chest Something new, Something happy, Something bruised, Something gone Another effort, Another resolve, Something still to come . . .
