Rufus Wainwright is the son of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, and brother of Martha Wainwright. To go by Rufus' albums, Broadway musicals were popular in the Wainwright household. His songs often have lush arrangements and orchestration, and a sense of drama; well melodrama. I read in another review that to listen to Rufus Wainwright requires that you get over his bad diction. That's probably true, but hadn't occurred to me. A more obvious question to me is whether he has a great voice, described by some as operatic, or whether he sings off-key.
