About me - Melody

I am a college graduate. I graduated with a degree in Music, and would love to be a Music Engraver at a large music publishing company (as in, those that publish sheet music and such).

It is also deeply engraved (haha, a play on words!) in my being to enjoy

My favorite verse in the Bible is John 14:27:"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." - John 14:27 ESVGod's peace. The one thing we can't grasp, and the one thing He keeps on giving.Just over five years ago, I was a ... Religion & Spirituality > Christian Beliefs & Culture Putting God first in your life

In can be very difficult, in our busy lives, to make time for God. It would seem that devoting one hour to Him every weekend should be good enough when we have to work three jobs, volunteer in music groups, attend rehearsals, clean the house regularly, do laundry, grocery shop, cook meals, wash the dishes... the list goes on ... I'll never forget the details of September 11th, 2001, even if they aren't very clear. It was a confusing day. At least, it became a confusing day.My morning was going pretty normally. I was a senior in high school, and involved in just about all the music I could get my hands on. My dad and I got to school early as we usually... More..

Jobs & Careers > Job Search (Other) The struggle in finding that perfect job (while staying true to yourself)

I had always understood that having a college degree paved the way to employment. Everyone must know I was severely jaded. My parents are 'churchworkers', meaning they are employed by the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (to which we subscribe) and their positions are with LCMS institutions. That's a fancy way of saying they'... More..

My family and I travelled a lot, it seemed. However, my favorite trip ever was only a few years ago.Throughout my childhood, we drove cross-country, we camped, we visited relatives and flew cross-country, and drove a little ways into Canada now and then, and did plenty of sightseeing. Then when us kids got older, we flew more... More..

I do a lot of reading, so I frequently have several books going, across a variety of genres. My most recent reading has been Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer's joint effort, "Sorcery and Cecelia", "The Grand Tour" and "The Mislaid Magician". These excellent titles would be classified as teen fiction. They are set in R... Entertainment > Musical Instruments Tips for playing handbells
2 of 3

The 'resting' position for holding a handbell is against the shoulder. When you are not playing, the bells rest on a thick-cushioned table. Your hand and fingers wrap around the handle of the bell, right up against the handguard. Your thumb should point roughly straight ahead when you are gripping the bell properly, and the b... More..

Religion & Spirituality > Christian Doctrine & Issues Problems with the claim of religions claiming 'the one true faith'
25 of 37

This particular topic is ironic in the light of my past. It is the exact question I struggled with through High School. Many religions do claim that theirs is 'the one true faith', but not all. Too many religions believe that all religions are 'true'. As a Christian, I can make a plea for my faith. There is the matter of authe... More..

Travel > Travel Planning & Advice What to know about traveling in Russia

Traveling to Russia is a little bit scary: definitely don't take things lightly.1. Don't forget to get a visa and a passport. Check dates and how long they are good for, and then get them as soon as possible so you aren't running around at the last minute. Keep them on you at all times, preferably somewhere hidden, like a poc... More..
