Last week Frank and I decided to have a go at peat cutting. On our way to turf and claim an old disused bank we called on a neighbouring croft to borrow another spade, Frank's having seen better days. The neighbour was hard at work putting the finishing touches to a frame to protect some soft fruit which had recently been planted. He wasn't local; the yellow marigold gloves gave that away.
