I was born in South Australia but reside in Western Australia.
I left school at 15 after completing year 10. The next 2 years I spent "enjoying my youth" spending most of my time with friends.
During my 18th year I landed a job in a laboratory as a laboratory assistant, where I have worked in various departments ever since.
Over the years I have developed an interest in the stock market and property investment. I am currently in the slow but steady process of building my involvement of these interests.
At school I enjoyed art, craft and creative writing. These subjects have remained my interests throughout my life as well as reading. I enjoy making things, creating pictures in various mediums and have also dabbled in photography (before things went digital).
I am always reading something and like to keep up to date with my local area's newspapers. I have a thirst for knowledge so I mainly read a lot of non-fiction such as investment how tos, cooking and home improvement. My favorite topics are history particularly WWII subjects and biographies of anyone I admire or who I think can motivate me. Psychology and mental health are other subjects I'm interested in as well as classical literature by well known authors as I like to take an interest in the work of people who inspire me.
Creative writing has taken a back seat over the years because I have mainly
concentrated on visual arts and craft. Although I enjoy writing I found there are a lot of barriers for getting published and being able to reach your audience.
With the discovery of sites like Helium who give anyone with the desire to write the opportunity to hone their skills in a public medium I decided to give it another try.
I hope you enjoy reading my articles as much as I enjoy writing them.

I never thought I would like Jane Austen. I had looked upon her as a Victorian "Chick Lit." Romance author in the same vein as our modern day Mills and Boon or Harlequin writers, certainly not the kind of books I was interested in reading.
Then one Christmas I was given a copy of the movie "Pride and Prejudice" (the one staring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth). My initial thoughts were " why on earth did you get me this? It's so not me".
I put the movie into my machine and pressed play. As the story unfolded I was surprised to find that it was more interesting and entertaining than I though...
