I like to have unnatural attachments. I like dysfunction. I like getting bad advice from good people.

I like to torture myself. I like people who recognize it's the only way, really. I like to make lists. I like baseball. I like soccer. I like parlor games. I like corn dogs. I love my dog Bigsby.

I like Superman, Serenity, Evil Dead II and Bladerunner. I like Ziyi Zhang. I like The Science of Sleep. I like Lester Bangs and the Chad Holt ethos. I like pi. I like Carl Sagan. I like socialist theory. I like Nels Cline. I like holding things for ransom. I like playing unfair.

I like to spoon. I like brilliant musicians.

I like the smell of Austin Java, the rustle of the New York Times and sweet words from the love of my life in the morning. I like the smell of cold. I hate the smell of Sweeny. I like to rage. I like to wake up in someone else's bed.

I like the frequent karmic kick in the head.

I like clever people with multisyllabic vocabularies and twisted logic. I like sleeping with people. Really, just sleeping.

I like to find out how people who got married in high school are doing these days. I like words, spoken and written. I like math problems. I like not being bothered. I like late nights and a haze of semi-consciousness. I like Tuesday with the Gilmores. I like Scrabble. I like Yahtzee. I like to yell BLUCHER! I like trivia. I like nachos.

I like Chicago. The city, not the band.

I don't like the smoking ban. I like magic tricks and bad jokes and short road trips with people who listen to good music. I like vampires. I like the Chupacabra. I like to change my mind. I like when others don't.

I like the internet. I like Bigfoot and Godzilla and UFOs and Jandek. I like a good snog. I like irony. I like screw-ups. I like writers. I like to feign interest. I like to try and hide the pain for the things I can't explain.

I like WILCO. If you haven't seen them live and have no plans to then your life is a waste.

I like to dork out alone. I like the slow descent into a life I never meant. I don't like being so different from my family.

I like pints and pageantry.

I love Austin, Texas.

I do not like hugs.

I am never bored.

THE ART OF THE FUGUE The common misconception in salvation is that one must be saved by a force that is stronger by lengths or flawless in character or closer to this thing we call God.
