I'm not a complicated person. The simple things in life make me smile. My writing reflects who I am; honest, sometimes naive, normally gullible, and loyal to what and who I believe in. I'm not one to write about things I know nothing about, using big words I have to look up to know what they mean. I'm what we call around here in these parts, "Common Folk".
The highlights of my writing career so far:
I had a poem published when I was in eighth grade. Well, it was in a Beta Club magazine, but I got paid, so it counts! My aunts and uncles had a poem I wrote about Grandpa, read at his funeral. I was so honored. Two local gospel groups recorded a song I wrote. Together they probably sold a couple hundred tapes, (yes, tapes, not Cd's!) I've had a few close calls with recognizable publications but my manuscript was not quite what they were looking for. I was sent personalized rejection letters instead of a form letter, that is why I say 'close calls'.
I plan to keep on keepin on and see where I end up, and yes I meant to leave off the 'g'.

Dead People Dancing Good! As any good parent, I monitored what my children watched on television, especially when they were very young and impressionable. As we all know, there are many programs not suitable for children or even for adults for that matter, but that is another article altogether! In the afternoon, cartoons were the norm, and usually pretty safe. I felt I could cook supper and check in every few minutes or so and not have to worry about them getting into too much trouble. One afternoon, I suppose the cartoon of choice had not held their attention, and my son, the oldest, too...
