While it would be nice to treat every criminal with an attitude of forgiveness and hope for rehabilitation, it is neither reasonable or justified in the case of child molesters. Forgiveness yes, but that is up to the victim and not the courts. Child molesters are a nearly unique category in that they prey on the most innocent and helpless, and have proved virtually incurable.
