About me - Loni Stel

About me

I am a mom of a dozen children, ten which are living at home. One of our babies was stillborn at 36 weeks and in December of 2004 we lost a 16 year old son to the choking game (MatthewsStory.com). My husband and I have been married for 22 years and we homeschool our children.

I just completed an 18 month freelance position with ABC affiliate, ClubMom (sister of CafeMom.com). With over 20,000 applications for this freelance writing position, I was blessed to be among 30 great moms writing about our daily busy lives. For me it was sharing about our homeschool family, along with the ups and downs especially since the loss of our son. I also shared recipes and did reviews of products, movies and books on my blog. In the last year I was able to share with my readers my journey through my 12th pregnancy, and a baby at 43!

Beginning of January 2008 all the ClubMom blogs were ended and more concentration on their sister site, CafeMom. There I lead a group for Bereaved Moms. I have since moved my blog to Writing Canvas (in my links)

I enjoy writing, investigating and sharing my life experiences and am thankful for this site as well, where I can share as well.

My hallway is filled with the portraits of my dozen children. But two of them do not age. They will never get any older. I wish I did not have the knowledge to write on this, but I too have gone through the tremendous heartbreak of burying two children. It's not the way life is supposed to go, parents burying their children. It's out of order. I don't think you ever "get over" the death of a child. You learn to continue living, but there will always be a pain in your heart, that you learn to cope with, but at times, the tears come flooding over the cheeks, as though it just happened. ...
