About me - Laurette Escobar

About me

I live and work in San Antonio, Texas. Being from Texas one either has to grow up with a great sense of humor or the muscle to take people down. I say this because everyone either LOVES or absolutely HATES Texas.

Texas isn't like Iowa, "Oh, it's there...so anyway as I was saying Bob, blah blah blah." I guess that has to a lot to do with our pride. We know our state has a lot of faults and we treat most of them as one might treat an eccentric uncle. A little weird/funny but mostly harmless.

One of the great things about Texas is its vastness. There are great wildlife refuges, great parks, beaches, deep sea fishing and great places to just chill out with the family or that special man or woman. But the best thing about Texas is the people. We have our rednecks, our city dwellers, our ranchers, our beach combers, our tree huggers, our small town folk and a slew of others.

I am made up of all these people and all these places. I am either loved or hated. I am prideful and a whole lot of other sins and praises and I believe that's what makes me the writer I am today.

Recently a global concert, Live Earth, was put on to raise awareness of the green house gas effects on our planet. Evidently the people who put this extravaganza on were thinking one of two things. One being, "Trough these musicians we can influence people to become green. They won't litter, they'll better control their carbon footprints and the world will be better for it." Thought two might have been, "What we can do is get a bunch of bands together and then we can spin it to that global warming thing." Which, by reports coming from concert goers, thought two was most likely the leading ...
