Life
It started with a cough that wouldn't go away. Three months later, after witnessing him cough up blood, my mother tricked my father into going to the emergency room at our local hospital. An x-ray and three hours later, an ER doctor told my father that he had cancer, and that they were scheduling an appointment for him to see a lung specialist. I found out about my dad's cancer by accident; I was home one weekend from college, and I took a message from my dad's best friend who was calling to say that he wouldn't be able to take dad to his next chemotherapy treatment.
