How about how NOT to treat severe bleeding. We've all seen the movies and TV shows where the wounded but determined good guy gets injured, rips his belt off, and uses his teeth to tourniquet his arm.
Do Not Ever Do This.
The ONLY time that you should use a tourniquet to stop bleeding, even severe bleeding, is if you are SO far away from a hospital, clinic, doctor, fire station, or any other place where the people are medically trained, that you will not reach help before you bleed out.
