Although I am a huge fan of the fantasy genre, I am compelled to answer yes' to this question. It is not that the fantasy genre has ground to a halt as such but there has indeed been a noticeable lull in fresh novels and writers in this genre.

In my opinion the greatest fantasy novels are the old classics, and in my opinion the greatest of these has to be Tolkien's legendary The Lord of the Rings'.
