I've climbed Ayers Rock, people-watched in front of the Sydney Opera House, and floated above mountains of coral that make up the Great Barrier Reef. I've stood at the top of the Little Beehive overlooking Lake Louise, and at the bottom, my legs shaky with exhaustion, I've had to run from a mother grizzly and her two cubs. I've celebrated Carnavale in la ville de Quebec and Carnival in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela.

I know how to make a zombie in a fishbowl and I know better than to drink it.

I've kept books, tended bar, entered data, and admitted sick people to Emergency.

Along the way, I've written.

I earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree at Carleton University, Ottawa, and creative writing credits from various other places.

Which means sometimes I've told the truth...

...about the tattoo artist who said his greatest work of art was his three-year-old daughter.

...about the thousands of people surrounding me in a trampled field, all of us craning our necks to catch a glimpse of the Pope.

And sometimes I haven't...

My childhood ambition ...

was to be the youngest novelist ever. Then an eleven year old from somewhere in the United States beat me to it. Seriously. I'm still not over it.

My first job ...

got really exciting when my boss bought one of those new electric typewriters.

My best moment ...

was the day I learned to ride a motorcycle. I was self-conscious about taking off my helmet and my (not yet) husband told me he'd never seen me looking more beautiful.

At first, people stumbled onto the URL and wondered how they got there. They'd been looking for motorcycle parts/acetaminophen at cost/hot babes on the beach, when they clicked on a pics hyperlink and ended up in a place full of blood and guts and some really cool special FX. Motorcycle vs. guardrail. Guardrail - one. Motorcycle - zero. You shouldn't have opened the attachment at work, but your buddy always virus-scanned.
