My passion is for creative writing, and I am the sub-channel steward for Creative Writing: Short stories. I value originality above all else, and look for it in my own writing, as well as that of others.

I have made some wonderful friends here on Helium, and look forward to meeting many more. The bond we all share as writers is something that's hard to describe to a non-writer.

I tend to write with a moral in mind, and to gently admonish those who need it. I find that humility is sadly lacking in our society and believe that a writer can't be truly effective without a generous dose of the same.

I am married with three daughters and three granddaughters who are far and away the most adorable on the planet. I see the struggles that women go through because of the fact that I am surrounded by so many of them. Part of my writing is focused on shining a light on those inequities.

Adrift

The merchant ship Karina Maru left Durban, South Africa on a day that seemed normal enough. She was bound for Fiji, carrying a load of machine parts when the 9.0 Earthquake off the shore of Sumatra hit. The world watched in horror as thousands were swept away in the tsunamis that traveled at almost five hundred miles an hour across the Indian Ocean.
