Hello fellow writers,

My name is Alison (alias Buffy) and I confess I have no writing experience at all. The only thing I do have is life experience. I don't kid myself that I'm going to be a brilliant or published writer but it's nice to think that through my life experiences I may be able to help just one person as they navigate their way through this lifetime.

I believe that life can be as difficult or as wonderful as you want it to be. You have to try and find the positive (no matter what you're going through at the time) and continue learning and searching for new experiences. As I've aged I've realized that we (I) say 'No' to a lot of opportunities, so that is my goal for myself - to say 'Yes' and just see what happens. Could even surprise myself and have a great time!

So, I'm just bumbling my way around Helium, and writing on topics that I feel I have a little experience in. It's a lot of fun, and revealing at times.

My mother passed away fourteen years ago this month. There is not a day goes by that I don't remember her with love, affection and gratitude for the life and love she gave to me.

My wonderful Mum came to Australia as a war bride. She lived in India until she was 21, when she met my Dad who was on leave from the war. They met, married and three weeks later were on a boat to Australia.

Poor Mum, she had no idea what she had let herself in for. She came to a strange country, was left to live with slightly hostile relatives she had never met before and who had never even heard of her,...
