About me - Mike Mulhern

aboutme

Born and raised in the Boston area. Went to school at Boston College. Went to work in accounting. Found that accounting didn't agree with me so I went hiking. On the Appalachian Trail. For five months. Ow.

Decided to write about it, mostly just to let my feet heal. Moved in with my mother and wrote a book. Found that writing a book is actually kinda hard.

Met a chick from Canada. I fell in love with her. She fell in love with me, even though I was an unemployed, mildly insane 30-something living in his mother's basement.

Read that last line again.

Decided such incredible good fortune couldn't be ignored. Left my mom's place and moved up to Canada to be with said chick. Eh.

Now I'm unemployed 30-something living near Montreal. I can't find work since they don't hire Americans here unless they have a work permit. And you can't get a work permit until someone hires you. Still trying to figure that one out. Chick still loves me though. Still trying to figure that out too. Until I do I guess I'll just write some weird articles. :)

Naples, Florida is the gateway to popular Everglades National Park. Yes, only in Florida can they take the world's biggest swamp and turn it into a tourist attraction.

But Naples isn't all about muddy water, alligators and shirtless guys named Billy Joe Bob. It also has some of the coolest festivals you'll ever see. So here are the top annual events in the Naples area.

Mullet Festival, January.
Finally - a celebration of shaggy hairstyles of the 1980s! Oh wait, this is a festival of mullet fish. How disappointing. For me and my mullet. Stan's Idle Hour Seafood Restaurant in Go...
