Recycling - Made Easy
What does it take to wash out your cans remove their labels and squash them for recycling.
I have an old dustbin that I picked up a recycler, to place mine in which I then put into the car and take to the recycle centre, but I don't send all my cans to the centre I also turn them into worthwhile objects, like a utensil pot, pencil holder, I also sink them into the ground, fill them with beer and they then act as a slug deterrent, it is definitely better than using slug pellets.
Plastic bottles, drink bottles these are also washed out and placed in another dustbin, ready for the recycle centre, I also use some of these plastic bottles, for storing dried ingredients, like dried pulses, nuts etc. all paper and cardboard are placed on the fire, or used as animal bedding,
These three basic materials will if recycled, will go a long way to helping the planet reduce its carbon emissions, I take it further than that because I recycle all my food waste to my chickens and goats or it is put onto the compost. All household items or electrical equipment is advertised on freecycle,
I have three compost heaps, because I produce a lot of animal waste, being a smallholding and breeding rabbits, you can imagine how much waste I produce, my hens enjoy pecking over the compost heap looking for bugs and grubs that may be hiding inside. I turn all my old sheets, duvets into pillows, curtains etc. I knit all my families scarves, gloves, jumpers and I even make patchwork blankets. I don't have a dishwasher or a washing machine preferring to do both these tasks by hand. And it gives me satisfaction that none of my appliances clogging up the atmosphere with co2 emissions.
These are just some of the things that our household is doing to help in the fight against global warming.
