What does the Welsh word panad mean in English?

Welsh is a really weird language - the real Welsh, that is, which is a descendant of Celtic, not the English dialect called Welsh (or Wenglish). It can not be accused of being phonetic, (although the Welsh themselves will hotly deny this) with pronunciation often achieved by aspiration rather than vocal chord activity. Furthermore, the letters j, k, q, v, x, and z are missing in Welsh, unless it is anglicised as in jeli.

There are mainly two Welsh, or Walian, dialects: North and South. The word "panad", generally taken to mean cuppa, as in cup of tea, would be used as follows in North Welsh:
"Do you want a cup of tea?".= "Dach chi isio panad?"

In South Welsh the word would not be used at all:
"Do you want a cup of tea?".= "Dych chi'n moyn dishgled?" although a very informal form is "tisho panad?" (wanna cuppa?).

But then there is also the difference between the spoken and the written Welsh. The phrases above are spoken phrases. Should the same question "Do you want a cup of tea?" occur in a literary tome, it would read: "a oes arnoch eisiau cwpanaid o de?", and if you translate that back to the spoken form it becomes "'Chi eisiau paned o de?" or maybe "Wyt ti eisiau cwpanaid [o de]?"

Och, my head aches and my tongue is lame.
Och 'm ben boenau a 'm balog ydy chloffa? Probably not.
