Sweet treats for 100 calories or less

For dieters, a sweet tooth has the potential to be a dangerous thing. Luckily, there are many great sweet treats available for under 100 calories each.

Fudgsicles and other Popsicle Treats
No Sugar Added Fudgsicles(R) at 40 calories each are one of my favorite chocolatey treats. They are sweet enough to curb the cravings without making you feel guilty about your mid-afternoon snack. Popsicle(R) makes a variety of icey treats in chocolate and fruit flavors with 100 calories or less.

Applesauce cups
Now available in a variety of flavors, applesauce cups are a mildly sweet way to add healthy calories to your snack list. Add raspberries or blackberries for a tangy zip.

Premeasured snack bags
Nabisco(R) has a line of great snack crackers and cookies that come in handy 100-calorie packs. These are great on the go or as a mid-day carb pick-me-up.

Granola bars
A few brands of granola bars contain less than 100 calories per bar, but most push the 140-180 limit due to carbohydrate calories. Half a granola bar paired with an apple can get you through your sugar craving for the next hour.

Fresh fruit
Nearly every fruit (with the exception of bananas, pears, raisins, dates, and avocados) are less than 100 calories per serving, which is often 1 cup or more! Several sweet and tart fruits are very low in calories and can easily be mixed for a fun salad or given an extra sweet jolt with a low-calorie artificial sweetener. They also contain fiber to help you feel full longer.

Bread and jam
Low-calorie wheat breads are available in your bread aisle and make a great mini-sandwich when paired with low-calorie fruit spreads such as Simply Fruit by Smucker's(R) which sports only 40 calories per 1 teaspoon serving. Or try a low-calorie cinnamon raisin bread.

Pudding and gelatin
Jello(R) and other snack cup companies have barged into the 100-calorie-and-less market with chocolate, butterscotch, and fruit flavored gelatins, puddings, and cake cups.

Fruit and CoolWhip(R)
Everything is better with CoolWhip(R), including your favorite berries and fruit wedges. Try a small parfait, with half a granola bar, a little topping, and a mound of berries.

Mixed coffee drinks
In select areas, 100-calorie drink mix packets are available to turn your favorite cup of joe into a splendid, flavored, creamy coffee treat. This makes your mid-afternoon pick-me-up an even more appreciated beverage.

Just being in the mind-frame of dieting can be a challenge. When you have 100-calorie-or-less snacks on your side, that challenge can be a bit easier.
