Schizophrenia and multiplicity disorder in comparison, is an opportunity, in my eyes to clarify the truths behind the myths and facts of two very different labeled illnesses. Treading into a territory of information about two completely different aspects of a subject that is seldom talked about enough and even more seldom understood. In this world of which we live today, if it is something that most do not understand or it seems to far beyond the comfort zone of people, it is sworn off and ignored. It is a very sad truth, because many who live their lives in the midst of these two mental health issues, (DID being better referred to, in my opinion, as a gift, not a disorder or illness)everyday of their lives, having to suffer the consequences of a misinformed world. A world that turns their head when a subject is sounding a bit weird or eery for them. We all need a wake-up call for the reality of these issues that our communities, schools, mental health fields, with their many advocates, so as to help heal this world we all live in together. It will only benefit us in the end. Thus my reason for wanting to do some research and sharing of personal knowledge about these two issues in comparison. I believe if people understood it more, their hearts would Lyn in a place of wanting/needing more information about the cause and effects of what we commonly call disorders such as the two being written about in this article.
The symptoms, their trademarks, and ultimately the truths of what makes these two disorders even a bit comparable, is something that delving into might be intimidating to some while validating for others. The ability to be able to look at a lot of information put together by different opinions and facts at http://psyweb.com/Mdisord/jsp/schid.jsp, suggest the criteria for diagnosis for these patients/survivors.
The mental health field who has put together massive amounts of information that even the lay person can understand. Information that will help people understand why the need to even compare schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder (DID- dissociative identity disorder). It is my wish and my hope that when this article is completed, people who read it will have a better understanding. That a desire to learn more is within their hearts so we as a world can begin to understand the delicate yet much misunderstood philosophy and attributes of why these issues are even up on the list of important issues our world faces today.
