Recently, I have noticed these giant cardboard beer bottles propped up in local party store windows featuring the new installment of Miller beer...Miller 'Chill'. It advertises itself as a light summer beer, featuring a hint of lime and salt. Myself being a connoisseur of both beer and liquor alike, I purchased a six-pack and conducted my own personal taste test. To ensure the full effect of this beverage, I relaxed on my porch and sunbathed for the duration of the day. In other words, I 'Chilled'. This effort, however, did not make a difference in the matter of the taste test. The new Miller 'Chill' is reminiscent of a mediocre light beer mixed with a virgin margarita. At first, it seemed like a refreshing light beer with an after-taste of fresh squeezed lime and a pinch of salt. After two beers, my stomach ached like I had come down with the flu, and I dreaded another sip of the hangover inducing drink. It soon revealed itself to me that this was a light beer most likely meant for the occasional drinker. The new Miller Chill would be appropriate for a night out at a mexican restaurant, or a drink at a local barbeque. I cannot seem to decide who Miller was attempting to market-teenagers who do not care how bad it tastes as long as it gets them drunk, or women who dig that sort of disgusting sugar-water atrocity lingering on their palette? Although the cardboard advertisements are unavoidable, there seems to be no commercial ads airing on any television channels I have encountered. There are no murmurs of this new beer at the local bars. As a matter of fact, I cannot recall anyone requesting a Miller Chill in any place at any time after it has hit the market. Perhaps this is indicative of the unpopularity of the new Miller 'Chill'. Give a taste test for yourself, perhaps you will enjoy it, perhaps you will agree with me. Let us hope it is the latter.
