Tips for improving your blog design

Designing a blog is not difficult, while designing a winning blog can be extremely difficult. One must consider various ideas preferably put down on paper or sketched out within a computer to find the best possible solution to better a design that will bring readers to one's new blog.

Tips below are a guide to help those who wish to create one's first blog or as a guideline to improve upon a design already in place.

1. Choose the best possible area to host the blog itself. Many places to host and download blogs are available online. If the person designing a blog for the first time already owns a domain name with hosting, it helps to install blog software on the domain servers. If the person requiring or desiring a blog is doing so as a business addition, definitely decide on adding the blog to the current domain website. Blog software options include such programs as WordPress, Blogger, Typepad, Blogware, Moveable Type, Expression Engine, etc. A simple search on Google.com will bring about a plethora of various blogging software programs, again ranging from free to monthly fees, to permanent ownership of the software, as one would purchase any other software program. This writer and blogger's personal preference is WordPress. WordPress is free. The company will host it free or one can download it to the domain of one's choice. WordPress offers many options and is highly customizable to suit any need. Whichever blog software one chooses, take time to learn and read how the program works else one will have a mess beyond repair leaving no choice except to uninstall and reinstall the program until it works well.

2. Decide what you wish to say in your blog and which population you wish to speak. Jot down notes for articles, outline if you must; however, have some idea of at least several first-time articles in mind before completing the installation process and allowing the blog to go live on the internet. There is nothing worse than having a blog with nothing written upon it.

3. Check into template backgrounds but always remember the group you wish to bring to your website. If the blog is for professionals, find a professional background template. If the blog is alternative grunge music, find one suitable to those tastes. The fact of the matter is that it does not matter which background template used. It does matter that it matches the type of audience one wants to attract with one exception. It is important that font color and style be readable
