Harry Potter: Theories on what will happen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Deathly Hallows... even the title conjures feelings of doom and foreboding. We are virtually guaranteed a final epic battle between Harry and Lord Voldemort, and it would be unthinkable for Hermione and Ron not to have some part in that battle, as they have backed Harry for the past six years.

The main question everyone wants answered is who will survive? J.K.Rowling has already said that more people will die, and although that was before the sixth book came out, you get the feeling we won't finish the final page of the final book without seeing one or more characters go the same way as Dumbledore.

The one person who puzzles me is Snape. Even after the way the last book ended, there's a part of me that's still not convinced Snape is up to no good. He's acting in the way he believes is best, but whether that's to the good of Harry or not, we shall see.

Always assuming that good will eventually triumph over evil, I think we could have one of three basic endings in store. First, both Harry and Voldemort will survive. Second, Voldemort will die and Harry will survive. Or third, they will both die, sending the message that good will triumph over evil... but not without sacrifice.

The whole series has been deftly plotted and full of surprises, twists and turns, and frankly I think I'd be disappointed if I ever successfully guessed at what was going to happen. I think we've already read several clues and plot points that will turn out to be vital in the final volume, but as to which ones are relevant... that will all be revealed in a few short weeks time.

Happy reading...
