Real life desperate housewives, i know you feel that staying home and washing dishes, burping and feeding children, and rolling around in a minivan from one soccer game to another means that you cant put a little kick back in your step and back into your wardrobe. I think the first key to a successful makeover is get your hair done. Every woman feels better when their hair looks great. i know we all remember the day when we were standing in the line at the grocery store, on a day that we didn't feel it was essential to run a curling iron through our head, and some random mother from the PTA walks by with her cute purse, fantastic jeans, and swept hair and you shrink in horror that she will recognize you and tell the other mothers that she saw you at the store and you look terrible from head to toe. It is time to say bye to those days.
The second key to a successful makeover is buy some cute comfortable shoes that look better than the house slippers you constantly wear out. A famous fashion stylist once said "if you get the hair and the shoes right, the middle will take care of its self" i truly believe that.
After you get your hair done and buy new shoes, buy some stylish easy to maintain tops and bottoms, you have to commit to the change. Set aside time everyday to put your self together. I understand how hard it is to find time to put your self together when you have to wake up with one child at 5:30a and get the other two to school by 7:30a, BUT IT IS 100% NECESSARY. The 30 mins it takes to shower, blow dry, and get dressed is the difference between sweatpants and house slippers and listening to the whispers of the other mothers saying "wow she looks great.. i wonder if she's had work done" when you go pick up the kids from school.
