Wiccan rituals are more than just lighting a candle and speaking some poetic words. For starters it does not matter what type of waxed candles are used. When selecting candles for your ritual you should think about the intentions behind the ceremony. The more you think about your choice of candle, the better the end result will be.
Most Wiccans have one particular candle they use in every ritual; this candle acts as a focus. Next you will have four candles that represent the four gateways (North, East, South, and West). Traditionally a green candle is used for North this represents the earth. A blue candle is used for west this represents water. A yellow candle is used for east and this represents air. Finally a red candle is used for south this represents fire. They're several other tools to consider depending on the intentions of the ceremony.
This is a very basic view of how candles are used in Wiccan rituals. You can find many books on this subject for anyone wanting to learn more. Remember that magic is the science of using your mind and that all equipment and tools are merely to help you focus.
