Background:-

Ethel Smith was born, bred and educated in England. Ethel feels very at home living in the same town after all these years. Her education was partially at a local High School for Arts and Crafts, until it closed due to the introduction of the Comprehensive schooling system. Educated to A level standard, the sudden death of her father saw her leave school rather than go to university. Family pressures and money difficulties meant that work was the only option.

With age, like most people, Ethel finds that there are not many things she has not come across in her life. If not personally indirectly. Of course this means that she tends to have an opinion on most things. The fact that Ethel has not moved away from her home town has not narrowed her opinions. Ethel has strong views on politics, and more, and is never afraid to share them with a willing listener. She is always open to accepting new ideas and people's differing opinions.

Helium:-

Ethel joined Helium at a time when she was ill and found that she had some spare time, and needed an extra hobby. She discovered that Helium is a great place to make friends, fulfil any desires to write and express your opinions, with the added bonus that you can earn some money. Helium also enables its members to earn good reputations as writers, if they are prepared to put in the work. Selling articles in Helium's marketplace and winning the writing contests can be so satisfying financially and creatively, even if it only happens occasionally.

Interests:-

Ethel loves to travel as much as possible, when money and time permits, and enjoys a variety of cultures. Passionate about animal rescue, and preventing animal cruelty in all forms, she was an active member of a local Dog Rescue Charity for a few years. With constraints she now takes a back seat but has two rescue dogs sharing her home, along with her husband of nearly thirty-seven years.

Current work:-

Working in administration roles for the National Health Service, for over ten years, Ethel has seen many changes and initiatives. Some good, some bad and some impossible. The working environment is both challenging and rewarding at times. With part-time working hours now, Ethel can spread her wings and take up a long forgotten love-writing.

Check out Ethel's Helium zones when you have time. They cover a wide range of topics. Perhaps create a zone or two yourself. This is fun and does mean that Internet traffic to YOU will increase. Betaville also offers Social Networking for those who enjoy this online activity. Hopefully the powers that be at Helium.com will realise that the adage "If its is not broke why fix it" is very true and know when the time is right to leave well alone.
