Capitol News Connection (CNC) is an independent and innovative multimedia news service that brings politics home' with localized and custom-crafted reporting from Congress for more than 200 public radio stations nationwide.
CNC reporters get behind the scenes and beyond the spin with balanced daily reporting and interactive features that make political news relevant to 1.87 million local listeners (Arbitron: Fall 2006). CNC award-winning reporters ask the questions no one else is asking; they focus on the issues not the horserace, with in-depth investigative reporting on how national decisions impact locally, interactive features bringing local concerns to national attention, and the intersection between money and politics. CNC connects the dots and citizens to their lawmakers and by bringing new relevance, transparency and accountability to the political process, it empowers citizens to be active and effective participants in our democracy. The CNC mission is to ensure voters are engaged and lawmakers are accountable towards an informed democracy.
Founded in 2003, CNC is operated by the nonprofit Pundit Productions Inc. and funded by public radio stations and grants from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Sunlight Foundation, Park Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Ethics & Excellence in Journalism Foundation.
