The effect of AIDS on Africa

So, what is the effect of the AIDS virus in a country that just so happens to be inhabited by a shade over 12 percent of the Earths entire population, out of which, over 60 percent of the entire planets AIDS infected population resides?

Lets further shed some light on this topic for those of you that probably are not very familiar with this subject. First of all, if you were to go and pose this question outright to the average person on the street in this country, you might get a response like " well it causes problems with Africa's general public" or perhaps something like this " it contributes to the poverty and crime in that country".

Now unfortunately, what many people don't ever stop to consider, is that HIV/AIDS has a much, much bigger impact on Africa. For example, consider this. Its been well documented that HIV prevelance itself has a very funny habit of showing up in the strongest numbers in the richest and most prosperous parts of the country.

There is also a major lack, even to this very day, of having the health care systems in place and functioning appropriately to effectively deal with the "preventative" side of things, as opposed to the curative treatment which is instead the approach being used to attempt to remedy this situation. Interestingly enough, it is quite obvious to anyone that the wide scale implementation of preventative programs would be considerably more effective than the latter approach to things as is being done currently.

Now add to this equation the nearly complete absence of the kinds of nutrition, as well as medicines, and health care systems such as what we here in the U.S. have access to, and you now have the much added potential for the extremely high possibility that larger numbers than ever of people living in Africa can and most likely will develop full blown AIDS.

It has been reported by various sources that a small but growing number of scientists apparently have an educated school of thought in that, as much as nearly half of all the HIV infections in African adult males and females might actually be caused as the end result of unsafe medical practices instead of the actual sexual activity itself.

There are also many common myths attached to the subject of condom use when it comes to STD prevention throughout many parts of Africa. Two examples of these myths would be that some sort of secret government conspiracy or otherwise is trying to limit the growth and or the potential of the African population,
