Getting married is one of the most stressful times of you life. You are changing your lifestyle and embarking on the most important journey of your life. There are several ways to reduce this stress, and one of them is by employing a wedding planner.
Wedding planners can be expensive, and often work on a percentage of the total wedding cost. This is because the budget for the wedding gives them an idea of the size of the event and thus the amount of work that is likely to be involved. However, many people see them as a necessary part of the wedding planning procedure and wouldn't be without one.
So, what do wedding planners actually do? Mainly, they take the stress out of planning a wedding, leaving you free to enjoy the day without worrying about things going right. They make all the tedious little phone calls, chasing up quotes and arranging things like deliveries. You make all the big decisions like color, style, timings etc, but don't have to worry about whether or not these things will actually happen as planned - this is the wedding planner's job.
If you are good at organizing things, and thrive on the adrenaline rush that it gives you, then employing a wedding planner is not for you. You will be able to get things organized down to the last button and ribbon, and will buzz about enjoying the thrill of it all.
If you like the challenge of finding the right price, and looking through all the wedding magazines, then giving this away to someone else might ruin the occasion for you.
If, however, you are scatty and disorganized, then employing a wedding planner would be a life-saver for you. You could relax, safe in the knowledge that this person is a professional and won't let any little detail slip through the net. Your wedding planner will make sure everything happens on time, and is in the right place at the right time.
A wedding planner will work with your right from the beginning. They will keep you on budget and advise you on which things you need and which are merely an unnecessary luxury. They will organize everything you want them to, and leave you to do the things you like doing. So if you want to do the flowers yourself, the wedding planner will step back from this and concentrate on other things.
A wedding planner also comes on the day of the wedding and will make sure everything goes to plan. They will make sure everyone is where they should be and chase up anyone or anything that is missing. You can enjoy your wedding safe in the knowledge that someone else is running round making sure the table settings are right and that the cake has arrived intact.
In the end, it all comes down to knowing your strengths and weaknesses. Don't try to take on too much or you will ruin the day. If your budget doesn't allow for a wedding planner, find a friend with good organizing skills to do it for you. Have a happy day!
