I will always step-up and be responsible for my own choices, though if anyone thinks I will be responsible for choices they have made they had best think again.
I learned that long ago, I would try to take responsibility for things others did, I had to learn the hard way I am not responsible to anyone but myself. I managed restaurants and bars for a living. Wanting to do a good job, I often covered for my superior. In the end, I was the one that got the blame for things I was trying to save, or cover for my boss or another employee. It took my Regional Director to point out by try to cover for others and always taking the blame for my superior, or other employees I was only hurting my chances to advance in the company. I decided I worked too hard to achieve my goal to take someone else's responsibility for their wrong doing to let them stand in my way for advancement.
There is one exception, when my boys were young; there were times they did things that I had to handle. It was hard for me to stop taking responsibility for their actions, as they got older. However now that they are older, I am not responsible for the decisions they make.
I am older now and refuse to take responsibility anything someone else decides to do. I have been ask over the years to take responsibility for things my sons have done since coming of age, and I have to tell them, "you made your bed, now lie in it." Telling my boys that is hard at times, but they were brought up properly and should know right from wrong, so I refuse to take responsibility for their or anyone else's actions.
I have enough on my own plate, and must be responsible for myself. I go to college. This is a lot of responsibility. I am disabled and I have to make sure I take my medication; this is one of the hardest things for me to remember. Often I do not take some of my medications at the proper time. I must make sure I eat properly, I know I do not, but these are my responsibilities and only I am responsible for them, there is no one that can force me to do these things, they are things I am responsible for, no one else.
