Swimming, healthy benefits:
1. Swimming is considered an aerobic workout. Our heart rate speeds up, our blood flow increases, and we sweat while remaining cool and refreshed in a pool. Many professional athletes supplement their regular routines with swimming exercises. Swimming can be enjoyed by any person, of any age.
2. Swimming is a low impact resistance exercise that is extremely easy on the joints while working out the body as a whole. The main support, water, is similar to our body's density, so the entire routine and practice puts far less stress on the joints than jogging, jumping jacks, leg kicks, etc... We weigh 1/10th less in water.
3. With resistance training, muscles are formed long, lean and strong. The chances of pulling or tearing tissue is reduced dramatically. The injury risk is low.
4. We lower our risk of heart disease, we reduce stress levels and we relieve tension in the body with an increase in blood flow. This also prevents high blood sugar levels, stimulates circulation and regulates the lungs.
5. Our bodies are made up of about 65% water. We are naturally drawn to the healing properties a swimming pool, lake, or ocean might give to us. This includes an energy refuel, an emotional mending, and physical well being. Feel the rejuvenation take place immediately in a swimming pool, even while floating on a raft two inches about the water. It's a calm and refreshing place to lounge and release the built up bad feelings harboring in a body.
6. Swimming creates laughter, and I am a big believer in the healing effects of a good chuckle. This is especially nice while sharing the moment with friends and/or family.
Swimming in general is always worth a try. Relaxation alone will make this simple activity worth the extra efforts. With a reduced chance of injury one cannot go wrong with an attempt at this aerobic workout, and all of the benefits attached. Burn calories, reduce physcial injury, boost immunity through activity, and increase stamina in general. It's all a matter of taking the plunge, diving in and getting your feet wet.
