OK for those of you out there who don't want to pay a ridiculous amount to change your battery this is it. Now there are some things you will need to know all replacements are not the same, some have "J" bolts holding the battery in others have have little wedges with a bolt in them down by the battery while others will have a bar (located under the cooling tank) that you will have to remove. first tho this is what you'll need.
*battery (top mount) or(side mount) depending on your car also available in both top and side
*a set of wrenches or ratchets(the bolt sizes vary)
*a battery back up (this allows you to keep the presets on your vehicle,clock radio stations,some cars it is required like on Subaru cause it will mess up the alarm system otherwise. there available right at walmart
*a terminal cleaner also(if your terminals are dirty)
1st step
if you have purchased the battery backup then follow manufacturers instructions and plug into the cigarette lighter port.
2nd step
if battery is in plain view without obstructions remove the negative battery cable (black wire) or (- sign) followed by the positive terminal (red) or (+ sign)
if there is the cooling tank over the battery remove tank then remove cables.
3rd step
remove the battery security mount ( "J" bolts or rubber security mount) or if its the coolant over the battery type remove the bracket.
4th step
remove the battery. ( make shure your wearing old cloths in case the batt. is dirty or has acid on it)
5th step
replace with new battery
6th step
remount security mounts
7th step
replace negative terminal(black or - ) followed by the posative terminal
(red or + )
8th step
make shure car starts
9th step
replace coolant container ( if removed)
10 step
remove back up and clean up
