How to make extra income with consigning

Consigning is the yard sale of the future! Once a month, I go through my children's toys and clothes to see if there is anything they don't wear or don't play with and I put it aside to give to a consignment store or sale. Where I live, there is a large consignment sale twice a year. One for Summer/Spring and one for Fall/Winter clothes. Toys and equipment are welcome at either sale. At that sale, you price the items yourself, put them on a hanger and drop them off. Three days later you pick up what didn't sell and your check which is 60 percent of what your stuff sold for. I love it. I made $150 last year at a sale. In the off months, I drop off some items to a consignment store who pays 50 percent of what the item sells for and I pick up a check once a month from them.
Think of all the things that you need new and look at what you can get rid of to make money to buy them. The only way I can afford new things is to sell the old.
Tips for consigning:
Make sure the clothes look almost new with no stains, smells or pet hair. Toys need to be free of scrapes and stains and cleaned before you drop them off. I just find it helps keep my house less cluttered and I have extra cash to buy more age appropriate toys as my children get older.
