Consider carefully what you are trying to achieve. What area of business interests you? What skills do you need to enhance, or learn, to get you where you want to go? What qualifications do you need? What is the quickest way to maximize your qualifications.? What do you want to do?
When you have analyzed this, start researching the organizations which offer the type of training you want. Weed out the legitimate from the dodgy. Get the brochures and sort through those which are nearest to your requirements. Take your time, consider carefully. This is important to you. If appropriate you can discuss it with family or friends. This way you can gain their support in the future but this is not for everyone.
What type of learning do the organizations offer? Decide if you are comfortable being in a regular class with others at a set time with a tutor or are you able to deal with working on your own with distance learning.
With a tutor you have a professional to question who can elaboration on any difficulties and who can suggest ways of developing the information you need, such as books to read or exercises which will help skills. You can develop a routine which is helpful. Some course will have to be this sort because it's not easy to learn shorthand, for instance, at a distance. With a class you have others to exchange feelings and thoughts with. You also gain a potential networking group for later.
With distance learning it helps if you can contact others doing the same course for support, expressions of frustrations and exchanges of understanding of the course. Again you can develop networking. Also use any help the organization offers which enables you to learn.
Does the work you want to do require a dress code? This might be part of a suitable course. Find someone who can help you to develop the best way to present yourself and find the clothes which will flatter you and are suitable for the work..
Does the course teach you how to deal with interviews? This is a technique which can be learned. What sort of question are you likely to be asked. If you become the interviewer, what do you want to know?
If you are already employed in business, will your company assist with time off for classes or help with fees? If so, consider the best way to present your case.
The most important thing to remember is that learning can be learned. By that I mean courses should be able to offer support and help on learning skills. There are always short cuts and tricks which help learning.
