When it comes to GPS devices, there are a lot of choices out there, and the selection can be overwhelming. GPS devices have become nearly as indispensable to most people, as their cell phones. One great choice of GPS systems is the Garmin Street Pilot c340 GPS System. Garmin has always been a well-respected maker of GPS devices and other electronics, and this model is no disappointment.
The c340 is similar to other GPS devices on the market, in that it comes with a fairly large 3.5 inch touch screen, which allows you to easily see the information being displayed. It also has dual integrated speakers that allow you to hear the voice prompts. No more fumbling with the buttons while you try to keep your car on the road - this little wonder has voice prompts to direct you while you drive. This makes navigation completely hands-free! It also comes pre-loaded with information for the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, (including over six MILLION points of interest) and optional real-time traffic information for most cities and towns. The Garmin c340 is very simple to program and use, which allows anyone to benefit from it. The unit is also light-weight, weighing in at less than two pounds. The device also boasts a USB port, so you can sync it to your home computer, and in addition to the 12-volt adapter, it also contains a lithium-ion battery for those times when you need to plan trips outside your vehicle. Even hikers and bicyclists can use this GPS device.
One of the best features of this device is the suction cups that allow for windshield mounting. Garmin also makes an optional dashboard mount, that you can buy separately. Whether you attach it to your windshield, or mount it on the dashboard, information is easily accessible to you - right at your fingertips, so you aren't digging all over the car, or having to pull off to the side of the road to locate your GPS unit that slid off in the floor as you rounded that last curve.
The c340 comes with an internal antenna, but Garmin offers a more powerful external antenna as well. And just like mp3 players and cell phones, Garmin has come up with the idea to offer changeable face plates for the c340, to allow you to customize the look of your GPS system.
Another great feature of the c340 is its ability to recalculate your route, in the event that you miss a turn. This is a great safety features, eliminating the need for back-tracking, or dangerous u-turns, and allowing you to simply continue on your way.
Shopping around on the internet, one can find this device from several sites for less than $250, including shipping costs and a great factory warranty plan. This is definitely a great price, when you consider all that comes in the package. And there's no putting a price on your safety, or peace of mind. This is a great purchase for yourself, or as a gift for a special loved one.
