The rank a school has definitely has some significance with employers. Those that come from schools with higher rankings are thought to have some type leverage or advantage over those not attending the same type of school. First of all it is harder to get accepted within these higher ranking schools so this in itself puts into place a weeding out function for the employer so to speak.
However even if you receive that edge from having attended a higher ranking school it's what you do once you enter the working world that ultimately counts. The rank of the school merely opens more doors for you to walk through but if you don't perform once inside then you will find that advantage quickly disappear. If you are looking for one of the top ranking schools you should consider Case Western Reserve University.
Case Western Reserve University was established in the early 1800s and remains a Cleveland, Ohio, landmark. It was founded as a result of the 1967 consolidation of two campuses: the Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University. Today, the university offers professional programs, as well as undergraduate and graduate programs, in a number of areas, including arts and sciences, medicine and law.
It's located in a well known part of Cleveland Ohio, and that is University Circle that has well over 500 acres. Case Western Reserve is loaded with history and culture. Other aspects of the university include an enriching culturally fulfilling environment surrounded by the Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Also located in the vicinity is Edgewater Park. An environment such as this provides plenty for students to do with their leisure time. The university strives to produce well rounded enriched graduates who look at life as an ongoing learning experience.
Some facts that establish Case Western Reserve University as one of the top notch schools lies in the fact that it was ranked in the top 25 private research universities as according to The Center for Measuring University Performance. During the fall of 2006 student enrollment consisted of over 4,000 undergraduate and over 5,000 graduate as well as professional students. And the number of international students enrolled is comprised of over 90 countries. There are approximately 155 acres.
At the university you also have the Weatherhead School of Management, which in the past has been known for developing prominent business and management leaders. The Weatherhead School of Management is making great strides in the community, as a number of it's students are now doing volunteer work with several agencies in the area including the Cleveland Foodbank. This particular agency helps needy families. Through the efforts of the students they were able to raise hundreds of pounds of canned food and this is definitely a worthy cause. Some of the other agencies include the Shoes and Clothes for Kids and the Granville Academy.
The students also lent their services to the students and faculty by helping prepare their tax returns during tax season. Other services are the Center For Civic Engagement and Learning which is a program that enables undergraduate, graduate, and professional students the opportunity to tutor and mentor elementary students up and through high school in the Cleveland and East Cleveland area's. So all in all with the number of activities taking place on campus including theatre productions, concerts, seminars, lectures and film festivals, Case Western Reserve University is a great place to visit and attend to gain higher education.
Case Western Reserve University is located at 10900 Euclid Avenue Cleveland, Ohio 44106.
