Our society already has superheroes; unfortunately they are almost invisible sometimes. Many see celebrities of various sorts as 'superheroes'. They model themselves after them and give them more credit than they deserve. They too are merely people, and not even people who make a big difference in the world for the good in some cases.
Superheroes are not those in the limelight; they are not the ones who fly in and 'save the day'; they are not the ones who flash in, take the glory and go.
Superheroes are the people who are there day in and day out, doing their duty, staying the course and caring about others. These are the ones who take jobs without praise, such as nurses, policemen, fire fighters, teachers and the like.
Superheroes are those that slide into the background, doing what they do without fanfare or glory. They do what needs to be done. Mothers who devote their life to taking care of others, Ministers who do the same for a congregation, grandmothers who spread love and acceptance to little ones, Daddies who take care of their child's needs by trudging off to work every day, and so on. These are our society's superheroes.
Fire fighters who put their lives on the line every day, policemen who work to make us safe, doctors and nurses who work long hard hours to help us when we're at our weakest, teachers who give their all for other's children, and even postal workers who make sure we get our mail every day are the superheroes we have right here in our society already.
I know I could go on with more superheroes, but in the interest of time, I will say that superheroes are anyone who does right in this often wrong world. Anyone who is giving and unselfish in a grasping, selfish world, anyone who thinks of others when making his or her choices, are the superheroes and we already have them. They are our families, our neighbors, our town's people, and our countrymen. Superheroes make the world go around: God bless you all!
