Gift ideas for sports fans

Looking to buy a gift for somebody who loves sports? Depending on the budget you set, you have many options! You don't need to give a sports fan a silly novelty gift like a football tie or a key chain. Get them something they'll really like. Here are a few ideas to throw around:

1. TICKETS TO A SPORTING FAN: Tickets to NFL and NBA games these days are expensive, so this may be a little out of your range. Tickets to a baseball game are affordable, and will make for a fun experience. You can treat yourself by taking your friend along, or give them 2 tickets to take a friend. Or, alternatively, if it is a "big game," and your friend is a diehard fan, buy them one ticket to the game. With increased ticket prices, more and more guys are going to games alone these days, and still having a great time.

2. TEAM MERCHANDISE: Buy your friend a jersey or a t-shirt for their favorite sports team. Go to the homepage online for their favorite sports team and check out your options. Find out who their favorite player is and get a jersey with that player's number. Most professional sports teams have a great selection of apparel for women and children, too.

3. SPORTING GOODS: If your friend likes to participate in sports, give them something that they will enjoy. If it's fishing, maybe a Hula Popper fishing lure or a new rod and reel. If they like to go snowboarding, a lift ticket to their favorite mountain is a perfect gift. The possibilities are endless. If you are stumped as to what brands your friend likes, or what size they wear, get them a gift certificate to a sporting goods store.

4. SPORTS BOOKS: Visit your local bookstore and pick out a biography of a sports player your friend likes. Or, get a photo book about a team or sport that your friend can put on their coffee table.

5. A DVD. You can get DVDs of NFL, NBA or NHL games. Or, how about a surf video or a mountain climbing video.

6. BEER! What sports lover doesn't enjoy beer? Bring over a 6 or 36 pack for the big game along with chips and a hot pizza and your friend will love you forever. Or, take them out to a restaurant on game day and watch the game with them, then pick up the tab. Besides watching the game, they will get to enjoy your company and some great food.

Tailor your gift to your friends taste and the time of year and you can't go wrong!
