Great bed-and-breakfasts in England to visit in the spring

So you fancy a Spring Break in the UK. But first you should consider what you want to do. Is your visit going to be cultural? Do you want to see England at it's finest in the early Spring or do you just want to relax, take in the views and keep your umbrella handy? To be fair these days, it is not so much rain as snow you will be facing during the month of April.

March brings forth the Spring flowers and there is nowhere better than Sussex. See white anemones followed by bluebells, established over centuries in Beatons Wood. One walk of 2/3 mile (1100 metres) through Beatons Wood is suitable for wheelchair users. On this walk there are seats for you to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this oak and hornbeam wood. Along the walks there are signs illustrating the flora and fauna of the countryside for your information. At neighbouring Parkwood Farm, watch the milking of the large dairy herd from a special viewing gallery every afternoon between 3pm and 5pm.

A good start is Deans Place Hotel. This is a 14th Century Country House Hotel, set in the heart of the Sussex Downs in the pretty village of Alfriston. A 3 star hotel as opposed to a B&B has many amenities but reasonable in price.

But why not consider getting a holiday cottage as opposed to a B&B. Ok you have to cater for yourself but sometimes this is preferable.

Pipe Cottage 300 a week sleeping 4 persons is set close to many attractive houses and gardens such as Batemans (the former home of Rudyard Kipling), Sissinghurst, Pashley Manor, Great Dixter and Merriments which are all well worth a visit as are Bodiam and it's Castle, Pevensey and Herstmonceux Castles. Bedgbury National Pinetum & Bewl Water are both just a short drive away.

Devon and Cornwall....the solitude of the moors or the bracing air of the sea. Fishing Villages and even watersports can be found here. A very economical B&B is Gimble Mill a former stamping mill dating from at least the 1600's now run as a smallholding. Rooms start at 25 pp and have just about every anemity.

The Cotswolds an area of outstanding beauty and history, probably the most historic area in England. Stow has the OLDEST Inn (Public House) dating back to 987 and still has the original tunnel
